Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in insurance verification, authorization, medical billing, or related healthcare administrative function.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, third-party insurance, and payer authorization requirements.
  • Familiarity with insurance websites and payer portals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail for documenting sensitive information.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must live in the Central Time Zone.
  • Willingness to work every other Saturday, plus occasional weekends, holidays, or after-hours.
  • Associate degree or relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Homecare Homebase (HCHB) experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain detailed insurance benefit information via payer portals, phone, and fax.
  • Verify and document patient policy details, eligibility, and out-of-pocket costs in the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor daily insurance workflows including Medicare eligibility, recertifications, and authorization updates.
  • Investigate eligibility discrepancies and resolve funding-source issues to support clinical scheduling.
  • Coordinate provider or agency transfer documentation to minimize write-offs.
  • Submit and follow up on initial, prior, and ongoing authorizations with insurance payers.
  • Research insurance verification or authorization discrepancies for the billing team.
