Requirements

  • 7+ years of management experience while remaining willing to perform individual-contributor work.
  • Proven track record of taking products from 0 to 1, ideally as an early product leader at a startup.
  • Demonstrable product research experience, including designing and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative experiments.
  • Direct experience shipping AI-enabled product features.
  • Experience in higher education, government benefits, public-sector technology, or similar administratively complex environments.
  • Strong product judgment under resource constraints with the ability to prioritize learning and impact.
  • Experience building products for populations navigating complex or high-stakes systems.
  • Resourceful with a startup mentality, comfortable wearing multiple hats and owning outcomes.
  • Commitment to the mission of connecting students to essential resources and education.

Responsibilities

  • Own product vision, strategy, and roadmap development aligned with organizational goals and student needs.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align product investment with organizational strategy, fundraising, and impact goals.
  • Establish repeatable learning processes for identifying barriers, testing hypotheses, and prioritizing interventions.
  • Build and mentor a lean technology team as the organization scales.
  • Define responsible AI use, evaluating features for efficacy, accuracy, safety, and bias.
  • Lead product discovery through qualitative and quantitative research with students and campus partners.
  • Diagnose barriers to student action and prioritize the most impactful interventions.
  • Lead from 0 to 1 and 1 to n, bringing core products and AI-enabled capabilities to market.
  • Stay hands-on with specs, design reviews, engineering collaboration, and product judgment calls.
