Requirements
- Hands-on ownership of multi-tier token architecture at enterprise scale in a multi-product or multi-platform environment.
- Demonstrated track record of making and managing consequential token architecture and breaking changes.
- Expert-level command of visual design as a systems discipline, including color, typography, spacing, and motion.
- Experience evolving mature design systems and navigating the tension between brand and system consistency.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating the aesthetic output of high-quality systems work.
- Ability to develop and deploy design tenets to navigate ambiguous decisions.
- Knowledge of machine-readable design systems, W3C DTCG token format, and semantic naming.
- Familiarity with design token standards and tooling such as Tokens Studio, Style Dictionary, and Figma Variables API.
- Staff-level autonomy with the ability to identify problems and drive them to resolution.
- Capacity to communicate complex infrastructure and architecture decisions to non-specialist stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design and steward the three-tier token graph ensuring scalability across multi-theme, multi-platform, and multi-density requirements.
- Make and defend architectural token decisions regarding naming conventions, tier boundaries, and semantic abstraction.
- Manage safe, phased token migrations and governance processes for consuming product teams.
- Own the Trellis visual language, including color, typography, spacing, iconography, and motion standards.
- Serve as the visual quality authority, holding the aesthetic bar for system-wide consumption.
- Lead initiatives to make the token layer machine-readable for AI coding tools and generative UI systems.
- Partner with engineering to ensure implementation fidelity and practical application of design intent.
