Requirements
- Experience with experimental design and statistics or machine learning methods.
- Experience using AI coding assistants for data analysis and technical tasks.
- Fluency in R or Python.
- Proficiency with common version control and command-line-based tools.
- Fluency in SQL and experience working with large-scale data using Hive, Presto, Druid, or Spark.
- Experience collaborating with product development teams in a fast-paced environment to test, analyze, and evaluate user-facing features.
- Ability to explain data and insights clearly to non-specialist audiences.
- Strong curiosity, critical thinking skills, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Commitment to Wikimedia's mission, values, and guiding principles.
- Experience with Superset, Growthbook, or other open-source testing/visualization tools (preferred).
- Prior experience in trust & safety, information security, privacy, or fraud and anti-abuse (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner for product managers, engineers, designers, and other colleagues in product development teams.
- Proactively make recommendations on product direction and data strategy.
- Deliver accurate quantitative data and insights to inform strategy and assess product impact.
- Communicate results and data-backed recommendations clearly to stakeholders across different functions.
- Build and execute measurement strategy, evaluating experiments using Bayesian & Frequentist approaches.
- Develop queries and code to work with large-scale internal and external data repositories using AI assistants and various data tools.
- Build automated, self-service dashboards to track success and health metrics.
- Help product team members instrument features, perform data quality assurance, and run A/B tests.
