Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on backend software development experience.
- Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in high-concurrency environments.
- Strong proficiency in a modern backend programming language such as Go or Python (Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C++ also considered).
- Expertise designing and maintaining scalable APIs and backend services using GraphQL, REST, and/or gRPC.
- Experience with high-throughput caching systems and distributed data stores such as Redis, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL.
- User-centric mindset with ability to understand interaction patterns and social dynamics.
- Experience in hypothesis-driven, data-informed environments defining metrics and designing experiments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a track record of driving alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-directed and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Management, Design, and Data Science teams to translate business needs into low-latency backend solutions.
- Own the full software development lifecycle including technical design, API contracts, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Design and evaluate A/B experiments using engagement and retention metrics.
- Build and maintain scalable backend services using GraphQL, REST, and gRPC.
- Contribute to engineering best practices and improve development workflows using modern, AI-assisted tools.
- Mentor engineers and help establish patterns for scalable development across consumer product teams.
