Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related field.
- 5-7+ years of experience in export controls, trade compliance, or regulatory compliance for advanced technology products.
- Proven experience classifying software, encryption products, cybersecurity tools, or digital forensics products.
- Direct experience with EAR, ITAR, ECCN classification, CCATS, Commodity Jurisdiction, and BIS/DDTC licensing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, software architecture diagrams, and source code concepts.
- Strong technical understanding of cryptography, encryption, cryptanalysis, and cybersecurity principles.
- Experience working directly with software engineering teams in an agile environment is preferred.
- Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., licensed attorney, Certified Export Specialist) are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Determine and maintain export classifications for software, hardware, and technology under EAR and ITAR.
- Analyze product functionality, encryption features, and cryptanalytic capabilities to assess export requirements.
- Prepare and manage government filings, including CCATS, Commodity Jurisdiction requests, and BIS/DDTC license applications.
- Partner with engineering and product management teams to understand roadmaps and design architectures.
- Establish a formal export control review process for all product releases, enhancements, and acquisitions.
- Develop and deliver training on export compliance for internal engineering, sales, and support teams.
