Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • RN-Registered Nurse of California (must be able to acquire prior to starting).
  • RN-Registered Nurse in State of Residence.
  • 1 year of mental health experience.
  • 2 years of practical nursing in a hospital, clinic, urgent care, or emergency room/department.
  • Professional knowledge of clinical nursing protocols and risk management.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge of medical diagnoses, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with electronic medical/health records.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial screenings of psychiatric and medical needs for all incoming referrals.
  • Utilize virtual assessment skills through phone triage and patient assessments.
  • Triage patients in acute crisis and determine the correct level of care.
  • Perform mental status assessments for involuntary hold evaluations.
  • Provide illness advice, self-care intervention, resource identification, and referrals.
  • Use approved telephone nursing guidelines and protocols to ensure quality care and positive patient outcomes.
