5+ years of related experience.
Demonstrated track record of leading and delivering production-ready, scalable distributed systems.
Proven experience architecting and implementing microservice architectures at scale.
Strong proficiency in modern programming languages like Java or Python.
Deep understanding of distributed systems principles, including consistency models and reliability patterns.
Experience designing and implementing APIs such as REST or GraphQL.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS), and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
Experience with data architecture, including relational and NoSQL databases.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability strategies.
Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Define and drive the strategic direction for backend and full-stack engineering practices, architecture, and technical excellence.
Lead the development of scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems serving government customers.
Design and implement modern service architectures, data pipelines, and infrastructure patterns.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to balance technical feasibility with business requirements.
Identify opportunities to modernize backend systems and lead large-scale technical initiatives.
Establish and champion engineering best practices including API design, security standards, and code quality.
Mentor and coach engineers at all levels to build organizational backend engineering capability.
