Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing in your state of residence and/or California, New York, or Texas.
- 8–12 years of legal experience, with a combination of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience at a technology or fintech company.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, intellectual property management, and employment law.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to advise senior leadership and boards.
- Experience managing commercial insurance programs and advising on enterprise risk.
- Experience navigating complex, state-by-state regulations and translating them into business compliance processes.
- Fluency with AI tools in a professional context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Own all corporate and board governance activities, including board minutes and resolutions, entity management, equity matters, annual filings, and regulatory reporting.
- Manage and protect Givebutter's intellectual property portfolio, lead IP strategy, and advise teams on product development and marketing.
- Own Givebutter's insurance program, coordinate claims, and advise leadership on risk-transfer strategy.
- Lead internal AI governance framework, develop policies for responsible AI use, and ensure legally sound adoption of AI tools.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the People team on employment law matters, including hiring, compensation, and employee relations.
- Monitor and advise on regulatory developments affecting nonprofit law, charitable solicitation, and state-level fundraising requirements.
- Manage and develop the Commercial & Product Counsel, setting clear priorities and overseeing their work.
