Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in your state of residence and/or California, New York, or Texas.
  • 8–12 years of legal experience, with a combination of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience at a technology or fintech company.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, intellectual property management, and employment law.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to advise senior leadership and boards.
  • Experience managing commercial insurance programs and advising on enterprise risk.
  • Experience navigating complex, state-by-state regulations and translating them into business compliance processes.
  • Fluency with AI tools in a professional context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own all corporate and board governance activities, including board minutes and resolutions, entity management, equity matters, annual filings, and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage and protect Givebutter's intellectual property portfolio, lead IP strategy, and advise teams on product development and marketing.
  • Own Givebutter's insurance program, coordinate claims, and advise leadership on risk-transfer strategy.
  • Lead internal AI governance framework, develop policies for responsible AI use, and ensure legally sound adoption of AI tools.
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the People team on employment law matters, including hiring, compensation, and employee relations.
  • Monitor and advise on regulatory developments affecting nonprofit law, charitable solicitation, and state-level fundraising requirements.
  • Manage and develop the Commercial & Product Counsel, setting clear priorities and overseeing their work.
