Requirements
- Hold a Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
- Have a minimum of 10-15 years of relevant legal experience.
- Have significant experience in professional design contracting.
- Have experience in commercial or construction contracting.
- Have experience in dispute resolution and litigation management.
- Have experience providing legal advice and counseling.
- Have experience with corporate transactions.
- Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is strongly preferred.
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the company’s lead in-house attorney and advise the C-suite, Executive Management Team, and Board of Directors.
- Develop and maintain a practical, risk-based legal framework for domestic and international operations.
- Oversee outside counsel relationships, including selection, budgeting, and performance.
- Oversee contract drafting, review, negotiation, templates, standards, and playbooks.
- Support and lead legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
- Oversee claims management and dispute resolution, and manage litigation, arbitration, and mediation with outside counsel.
- Monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations and support enterprise risk management.
- Provide legal oversight for data privacy, AI use, confidentiality, employment practices, and emerging risks.
- Oversee state and local licensure applications, renewals, business filings, and renewals.
- Lead legal support resources and collaborate with Operations, Finance, Risk Management, and People & Culture.
