Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction in good standing.
- 10+ years of substantive legal experience overseeing multi-state foreclosure and default litigation.
- Proven experience managing, supervising, and developing attorneys and legal support personnel.
- Demonstrated experience selecting, retaining, and managing outside counsel and legal budgets.
- Substantial experience with bankruptcy proceedings, title disputes, and judgment enforcement.
- Ability to analyze large volumes of case data and utilize litigation tracking and case-management systems.
- Experience working directly with C-suite executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong judgment in balancing legal risk against recovery objectives and cost.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive recovery strategies across foreclosure, bankruptcy, and breach of note or guaranty claims.
- Provide executive oversight to a legal team of 10 attorneys and 6 support staff managing approximately 342 active cases.
- Direct nationwide outside counsel, including setting litigation strategy, reviewing legal spend, and monitoring performance.
- Partner with Executive Leadership, Credit, and Finance to prioritize recovery strategies and maximize returns on distressed assets.
- Develop executive reporting and portfolio analytics regarding recovery performance, legal expenditures, and litigation trends.
- Establish policies, procedures, and metrics to ensure operational consistency and risk management.
