Requirements
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, with hands-on experience in revenue recognition, leases, and credit losses.
- Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) in a usage-based or multi-element billing environment.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment building processes from scratch.
- Multi-state compliance experience, including Secretary of State filings, franchise tax, and tax notices.
- Experience supporting external financial statement audits as a preparer.
- Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes through automation and AI.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort learning new systems quickly.
- Proven experience owning a broad range of accounting tasks independently.
Responsibilities
- Execute monthly close processes including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and GAAP financial statement preparation.
- Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606 for usage, hardware, and prepaid billing models.
- Maintain the corporate compliance calendar, covering annual reports, franchise taxes, and local business licenses.
- Manage full-cycle collections, AR aging, billing operations in Stripe/Shopify, and daily bank reconciliations.
- Support external financial audits and coordinate annual business insurance renewals.
- Automate accounting processes and contribute to NetSuite implementation and optimization.
