Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building scalable backend distributed systems.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Go.
- 5+ years managing software engineering teams responsible for large-scale backend platforms.
- Proven experience leading teams for business-critical systems with high availability.
- Deep understanding of event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, and consistency models.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes/GKE and GCP services (Pub/Sub, Redis, MongoDB/Firestore, ClickHouse).
- Strong understanding of API lifecycle management (protobuf, ConnectRPC/gRPC, versioning).
- Experience managing SLIs/SLOs, observability, incident response, and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with security and compliance, including PCI requirements and data governance.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Product Managers to define roadmaps and manage priorities.
- Strong track record of hiring, coaching, and developing engineering talent.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting strategy and technical decisions to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing backend engineering organization.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and coaching.
- Own end-to-end execution of the Payments Platform roadmap across multiple initiatives.
- Establish predictable delivery through planning, estimation, and sprint management.
- Partner with Product, Finance, Compliance, and Security to translate business needs into technical roadmaps.
- Lead engineering efforts for highly available infrastructure covering checkout, subscriptions, and reconciliation.
- Establish practices around SLIs/SLOs, observability, incident management, and disaster recovery.
- Collaborate with Principal engineers to evolve platform architecture and technical direction.
- Champion engineering excellence through design reviews, RFCs, and CI/CD improvements.
