Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; associate degree or higher preferred.
- 1–3 years of hospital registration and/or insurance experience.
- At least one year of customer service experience.
- General knowledge of healthcare terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
- Strong understanding of insurance processes, eligibility, referrals, prior authorizations, and financial clearance.
- Experience with Epic or similar electronic health record and practice management systems.
- Familiarity with Epic work queues and related systems (ADT, Prelude, Grand Central) is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor registration, referral, and prior authorization work queues to complete financial clearance activities.
- Verify and update patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and appointment information.
- Obtain and document referrals, prior authorizations, and precertification numbers.
- Collaborate with patients, providers, and insurance carriers to resolve coverage and authorization issues.
- Contact patients and referring providers to collect required demographic and financial information.
- Process copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles during pre-registration.
- Maintain accurate records in practice management and electronic health record systems.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements for sensitive health and financial data.
