Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree is preferred.
- Previous healthcare, call center, or customer service experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and interact professionally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to actively listen, research information while speaking, and explain options clearly.
- Basic proficiency with computers, desktop software, and multi-line telephone platforms.
- Strong organization, multitasking, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow established workflows and protocols while using sound judgment.
- Ability to work a range of schedules, including potential weekend coverage.
- Functional vision, hearing, speech, and touch required to operate standard equipment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients and customers through established Patient Access & Care Team services.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments while coordinating referrals and provider information.
- Collect, verify, and update patient demographic, insurance, and medical record information.
- Verify insurance eligibility, communicate financial responsibility, and support collection of co-pays and balances.
- Assess caller needs using established protocols and escalate complex or emergent situations appropriately.
- Process medication refill requests and route patients based on departmental guidelines.
- Accurately document every interaction within electronic medical records and other department systems.
