Requirements
- ACAS designation required (or ASA working in health insurance).
- At least 5 years of experience in an actuarial or data science P&C and/or Health insurance role.
- At least 2 years of experience in an actuarial ratemaking and/or pricing modeling role.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL.
- Strong knowledge of R and/or Python.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Advanced knowledge of generalized linear models (GLMs).
- Ability to review and evaluate data for quality, completeness, and reasonability.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of elastic net GLMs, k-means clustering, and geospatial statistics is desirable.
- Experience performing competitor filing research in SERFF is a plus.
- Willingness to learn AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, Gemini).
Responsibilities
- Develop price elasticity curves to forecast the impact of rating changes on policyholder retention and conversion.
- Forecast portfolio policyholder retention and conversion based on pricing and business initiatives.
- Improve risk segmentation by developing GLM-based rating factors using R or Python.
- Build and maintain tools to monitor the performance of existing rating plans, including loss ratio, churn, and lifetime value.
- Write advanced SQL procedures for large-scale veterinary bill database analysis.
- Analyze product design proposals for pricing viability, enterprise risk, and competitive positioning.
- Support rate filing work and draft responses to regulatory objections.
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders across product, underwriting, and marketing teams.
