Requirements
- BS degree in food science, chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the dietary supplement industry (capsules, soft gels, liquids, powders, gummies, or nutrition bars).
- Proficiency with MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, standard operating procedures, and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of nutraceutical ingredients, usage, forms, and relevant characteristics.
- Knowledge of Food & Supplement regulations including DSHEA and FD&C Act Section 21 CFR 111 (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex variables.
- Basic math skills, including algebra.
- Ability to work effectively cross-functionally across various departments.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work with limited supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead qualification of alternate raw materials, ingredients, and components through technical evaluation and cross-functional alignment.
- Execute compliance-driven, supply-driven, and optimization-driven reformulations ensuring nutritional accuracy and manufacturability.
- Conduct impact assessments for formulation or material changes and recommend corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot material variability and manufacturability challenges in collaboration with Operations and Supply Chain.
- Collaborate with QA to address deviations, non-conformances, and specification gaps through root cause analysis.
- Develop, refine, and maintain ingredient, component, and finished product specifications with high accuracy.
- Manage change submissions, document revisions, and approval workflows within PLM systems.
