Requirements
- 8+ years of industrial data engineering experience with an advanced degree or 12+ years with an undergraduate degree.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated mastery of data modeling, database design, and data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake).
- Strong skills in PySpark, SQL, and Python.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools like Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, dbt, Looker, or Superset.
- In-depth experience managing the entire data lifecycle and production release of complex data processing solutions.
- Track record of making decisions optimized for the wider organization in ambiguous environments.
- Strong ability to develop focused messaging for executive-level communication.
Responsibilities
- Define long-term data engineering strategy guided by company priorities.
- Design coherent ecosystems across multiple pipelines and API boundaries.
- Make high-impact technical choices including 'build vs. buy' framework selections.
- Implement solutions to improve developer efficiency and establish quality best practices.
- Roll out major features and systems with monitoring and success metrics.
- Enforce data governance policies and raise the bar for data reliability.
- Influence cross-functional roadmaps and provide executive communication.
- Mentor and develop other engineers through coaching and constructive feedback.
