Requirements
- 3–6+ years of hands-on privacy experience in fintech, payments, or a similarly regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian privacy requirements, including PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25.
- Practical experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and managing data rights requests.
- Ability to develop defensible, practical controls that align with identified risks.
- Interest in AI and emerging technology governance, including data usage and automated decision-making.
- Strong ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business guidance.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with US privacy frameworks like CCPA/CPRA is considered an asset.
- Exposure to enterprise risk management or AML/ATF compliance is helpful.
- CIPP/C certification is preferred; CIPP/US or CIPM are also assets.
Responsibilities
- Lead and improve the privacy program to ensure compliance with PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25, and other Canadian provincial privacy legislation.
- Provide practical, risk-based privacy guidance to business teams to minimize operational friction.
- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new products, features, and vendors.
- Develop a responsible AI approach by creating scalable methods for assessing AI tools and data usage.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Legal teams to embed privacy by design into development workflows.
- Manage core operations including data rights requests, breach assessments, and third-party reviews.
- Monitor regulatory developments across Canada and the US to provide actionable recommendations.
- Support the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and broader compliance priorities like AML/ATF.
