Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Demonstrated exceptional analytical ability through professional work, coursework, or projects.
- Progress toward an ASA designation is preferred.
- Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam is considered a plus.
- Strong ability to build productive relationships with clients, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Highly self-directed, motivated, and dependable with strong ownership and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven consulting environment.
- Demonstrated ability to implement improved processes and analytical approaches.
- Insurance license may be required within six months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Lead analysis of medical and pharmacy utilization, unit costs, claims trends, and key expense drivers.
- Provide in-person and virtual consultation to clients on employee benefits strategies including plan design and care models.
- Develop claim projections, trend analyses, forecasts, and comparisons of funding mechanisms.
- Review and prepare annual benefit plan renewals in collaboration with carrier underwriting and actuarial teams.
- Build and enhance financial models, spreadsheets, and analytical tools for benefits decision-making.
- Develop models to improve the accuracy of IBNR reserve projections.
- Support the integration of data analytics across disability and life insurance benefits.
