Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in industrial distribution or closely related businesses.
  • Executive-level experience as a CEO, President, COO, division leader, or corporate development leader.
  • Active, credible network of owners and senior decision makers within fluid power, motion control, or hose and fittings sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn industry relationships into substantive commercial opportunities.
  • Expertise in distributor economics, manufacturer channel relationships, and value-added service models.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Strong record of professional achievement in P&L management, commercial leadership, or acquisition programs.
  • Experience with M&A transactions, ownership transitions, or due diligence strongly preferred.
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently as a consultant with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Identify acquisition targets and develop relationships with founders, family owners, and executives at independent and regional distributors.
  • Facilitate warm introductions to establish trust for confidential discussions regarding ownership transitions and growth partnerships.
  • Define acquisition criteria, map markets, and prioritize targets based on strategic fit and product mix.
  • Provide market intelligence and evaluate potential opportunities regarding supplier relationships, branch economics, and revenue durability.
  • Support commercial and operational diligence including gross margins, inventory quality, and technical capabilities.
  • Participate in owner meetings and transaction workstreams to help advance client engagements.
  • Advise on integration, cross-selling, and retention strategies post-acquisition.
