Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience, with 4-6+ years preferred.
  • Strong accounting and financial analysis knowledge.
  • Experience supporting internal controls, financial audits, or risk assessment activities.
  • Hands-on experience performing reconciliations, control testing, and financial data validation.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of OMB Circular A-123, FMFIA, GAO Green Book, or similar internal control frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial data analysis and reconciliation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience documenting findings.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance through a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of federal internal control assessments and OMB A-123 activities.
  • Perform hands-on accounting duties including account analysis, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Gather and analyze financial data, transaction populations, and documentation to support risk assessments and control testing.
  • Perform and document testing of financial and business-process controls, including control design and operating effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining internal control documentation, such as process narratives, flowcharts, and risk-control matrices.
  • Evaluate financial information for completeness, accuracy, and trends to identify potential control issues or deficiencies.
  • Track corrective action plans and coordinate with process owners to collect supporting evidence for remediation.
  • Prepare audit-ready workpapers, schedules, and draft sections of assurance reporting for management review.
