Requirements
- 5+ years of payroll operations experience with direct ownership of multi-state processing.
- Advanced technical proficiency with HRIS and enterprise payroll platforms.
- Strong analytical and data-validation capabilities.
- Working knowledge of wage and hour regulations and multi-state tax compliance.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including macros or query tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
- Experience with Rippling or comparable enterprise payroll platforms is preferred.
- Experience processing equity transactions and payroll tax for equity-based compensation is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end biweekly payroll processing as the lead Preparer for on-cycle and off-cycle runs.
- Manage payroll exceptions, manual overrides, system calculations, and audit trails.
- Review payroll results, earnings, deductions, and pay group configurations to ensure accuracy.
- Validate paycheck-level taxation across multiple states and address withholding discrepancies.
- Process garnishments, levies, and involuntary deductions.
- Research multi-state tax requirements and wage and hour regulations.
- Administer equity transactions, supplemental withholding, and equity-to-payroll audit logs.
- Manage payroll system configurations, automations, and documentation.
- Develop ad hoc reports and track payroll key performance indicators.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex employee payroll inquiries.
