Requirements
- Active certification through AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P).
- Minimum of 6 months of on-the-job coding experience.
- Working knowledge of EMR and billing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas) and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain 95% or higher productivity and accuracy rates.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Possession of current coding materials including CPT and ICD-10-CM references.
- Strong communication, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day.
Responsibilities
- Provide coding services to support client programmatic needs.
- Code surgical procedures typical of an ER setting to capture additional revenue.
- Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest level of specificity.
- Accurately apply diagnosis and procedure codes utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment.
- Ensure individual compliance with privacy and security rules and regulations.
- Participate in company provided training and education.
