Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Approximately 10 years of experience in government affairs, public affairs, or communications.
- Direct experience in a political, legislative, regulatory, or advocacy environment.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills for senior executives and external audiences.
- Proven ability to manage dozens of concurrent workstreams with high attention to detail.
- Experience managing people, consultants, or both.
- Ability to work as a self-starter with minimal direction in a fast-moving environment.
- Discretion and sound instincts when representing the company to senior officials.
- Background in energy, mining, critical minerals, or environmental remediation preferred.
- Experience with Tribal governments, particularly the Navajo Nation, preferred.
- Familiarity with federal grants and compliance requirements preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day federal legislative and regulatory engagement across key agencies including DOE, DOI, BLM, EPA, USDA, and the NRC.
- Build and expand state government affairs presence in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Wyoming.
- Execute the Navajo Nation engagement strategy and maintain relationships with local elected officials and civic organizations.
- Direct communications, press releases, website content, and marketing collateral to maintain consistent brand standards.
- Supervise the Grants and External Affairs Manager to oversee funding identification, submission, and post-award compliance.
- Build and maintain systems for trackers, calendars, and workflows to support the external affairs function.
- Coordinate with operations, legal, and finance to align external commitments with internal realities.
