Requirements
- Solid professional software development experience in C++.
- Experience working with Unix Systems.
- Strong knowledge of database internals and design.
- Experience in performance engineering, such as in databases, high-frequency trading, simulation, or real-time data processing.
- Strong production debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate well and work effectively within and across engineering teams.
- Ability to work closely with the open-source community, including patient code reviews.
- High level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to, analyze, and optimize the performance of the core ClickHouse database.
- Work on query optimization, distributed query optimization, relational operators (e.g., aggregation and joins), caching, and low-level optimizations like SIMD instructions.
- Extend existing and add new performance tests using real-world or synthetic datasets to ensure database performance.
- Support the Engineering team by debugging advanced performance issues, including participation in on-call rotations and community support channels.
- Collaborate with teams to assess the impact of new features on performance and reliability.
- Engage with the open-source community by resolving issues, reviewing PRs, and answering questions in public channels.
