Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mental Health Billing Specialist or similar role.
- Strong communication skills and professional, empathetic demeanor.
- Proficiency with EMRs and administrative software.
- Experience with Valant EMR preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and Medicare patient guidelines.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work independently.
- Reliable internet connection and backup power source.
Responsibilities
- Submit primary and secondary insurance claims accurately and timely.
- Review and resolve rejected or denied claims.
- Manage aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and obtain pre-authorizations.
- Post insurance and patient payments.
- Send patient statements and respond to billing inquiries.
- Update patient files and communicate with insurance providers.
- Monitor billing accuracy in Valant and Waystar.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and collaborate with clinical teams.
