Requirements
- Meaningful engineering management experience leading teams through real delivery.
- Solid background in backend engineering sufficient to earn team credibility.
- Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams across time zones.
- Strong communication skills with non-technical stakeholders such as compliance, finance, and risk.
- Fintech or banking domain experience, specifically with payment schemes like direct debits or standing orders.
- Expertise in reliability engineering, including SLOs, observability, and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency in strongly-typed backend languages (Java/Spring Boot preferred).
- Experience with relational database design at scale, including transactions and consistency.
- Proven experience building and maintaining microservices in cloud-native environments (AWS).
- Ability to mentor and grow engineers from early-career through senior levels.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 7 engineers (backend and mobile) across Lithuania and Bulgaria.
- Manage technical direction for core systems: mandate management, scheduling, sweep logic, and internal transfer flows.
- Ensure system stability and operational reliability through effective SLOs, on-call practices, and incident response.
- Partner with product teams to align engineering output with member needs and global regulatory scheme rules.
- Coach and grow engineers at all career stages.
- Align with other Engineering Managers across Banking on shared infrastructure and cross-cutting decisions.
