Requirements
- Meaningful experience in security architecture, application security, or cloud security.
- Strong understanding of security risks in modern multi-tenant SaaS architectures, including APIs, microservices, identity, and data protection.
- Experience leading threat modeling, architecture reviews, and risk assessments.
- Deep cloud security knowledge, with a preference for AWS (Azure or GCP also valued).
- Experience securing third-party and customer integrations at scale, such as SSO and identity federation.
- Pragmatic, risk-based approach to decision-making with the ability to operate in ambiguous environments.
- Active user of AI tools with an understanding of associated benefits and risks.
- Strong collaboration, mentorship, and influence skills.
- Experience in K-12 or higher education ecosystems is a strong advantage.
- Passion for mission-driven work in education.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbally.
Responsibilities
- Provide architectural guidance on secure design decisions and remediation strategies for product and engineering teams.
- Perform architectural assessments, threat modeling, and data flow reviews throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Advise on secure implementation of cloud-native services, IAM, encryption, storage, and serverless design patterns.
- Evaluate new technologies, third-party integrations, and large-scale customer integrations like SSO and identity federation.
- Develop and document secure architectural reference patterns for internal teams.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps to create secure design patterns in CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and runtime environments.
- Mentor junior security engineers and developers on architectural thinking and secure design.
