Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive professional accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities within a high-growth corporate environment.
  • Experience in a publicly traded or late-stage pre-IPO organization is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
  • Expert-level knowledge of US GAAP, advanced financial statement preparation, multi-entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, and SOX 404 compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience building, managing, and developing accounting teams across multiple locations or time zones.
  • Strong experience with enterprise ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, and the ability to improve financial processes through technology and automation.
  • Experience using or implementing AI-enabled tools and workflows within finance or accounting environments is highly valued.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate anomalies, perform detailed reconciliations, identify root causes, and protect data integrity.
  • Strong project management and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and independently drive initiatives from conception through completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, legal, operations, and executive teams.
  • Strategic mindset combined with a willingness to remain hands-on and engage directly with complex accounting issues when required.
  • High attention to detail, strong ownership mentality, and the ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous, rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day corporate accounting operations with a high degree of autonomy, overseeing month-end close, global consolidation, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting while maintaining exceptional accuracy and efficiency.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior accounting leadership, acting as a force multiplier by independently managing operational priorities and providing guidance on complex accounting matters.
  • Investigate financial discrepancies and unusual transactions directly, perform detailed account reconciliations, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain accounting processes and internal controls that support scalability, data integrity, and compliance with US GAAP and SOX 404 requirements.
  • Serve as a technical accounting subject matter expert, supporting complex accounting treatments, financial statement preparation, external audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use automation, modern finance technologies, and AI-enabled workflows to streamline accounting cycles and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team operating across multiple time zones, establishing clear expectations, accountability, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Partner with FP&A, Legal, Operations, and executive stakeholders to provide accurate financial information and support data-driven business decisions.
  • Support strategic finance initiatives, including system implementations, upgrades, integrations, process redesigns, and other projects requiring strong accounting and operational expertise.
  • Establish scalable mechanisms and best practices that strengthen the accounting organization as the business continues to grow and evolve.
