Requirements
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of consumer collections and credit qualifications.
- Understanding of laws and regulations governing collection activities at federal, provincial, and local levels.
- Knowledge of financial products, services, and market trends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven influence and negotiation skills for difficult customer situations.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within established risk parameters.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Commitment to regulatory compliance and data confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate delinquent, high-risk, and written-off accounts to identify collection and recovery opportunities.
- Build rapport with customers to understand financial needs and guide them on payment strategies.
- Manage the full customer interaction lifecycle from initial contact through resolution and documentation.
- Negotiate solutions that maximize recovery while balancing customer circumstances and business objectives.
- Analyze account data to assess collection probability and provide actionable performance recommendations.
- Handle complex escalations and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Design and implement collections processes, tools, and training programs to optimize performance.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and data confidentiality across all account activities.
