Requirements
- 7+ years of related experience with a BA/BS degree, or 5+ years of experience with an MA/MS degree.
- 5+ years of specialized experience in cloud database maintenance and administration.
- Strong experience administering cloud database platforms, specifically Snowflake and AWS data services (Redshift, Aurora, RDS, Neptune).
- Expertise in SQL, query performance tuning, and database optimization.
- Proven ability to automate database administration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting (Terraform, dbt, Python).
- Technical training, certification, or degree is required.
- Familiarity with federal security, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of modern monitoring/observability tools and CI/CD workflows.
Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize cloud database environments including configuration, scaling, and performance tuning.
- Create, maintain, and govern databases, schemas, and roles in alignment with security and IAM policies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, query efficiency, and capacity utilization.
- Automate database provisioning, user management, and monitoring using SQL, Python, and Terraform.
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain SQL, NoSQL, and graph database platforms.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutions.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
- Ensure environment compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
