Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive responsibility in philanthropy, development, stakeholder engagement, or strategic communications.
  • Direct experience owning funder relationships and fundraising strategy autonomously.
  • Strong familiarity with the landscape of science philanthropy and global change funding streams (government, foundation, corporate, individual).
  • Proficiency with Salesforce to build and maintain fundraising database infrastructure.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Ability to develop and translate complex impact stories into persuasive narratives.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Slack.
  • Strong external presence with the ability to represent the organization publicly.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, both in the US and internationally, approximately 8 trips per year.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development operating strategy for core organizational support, workshops, and engaged research portfolios.
  • Manage a portfolio of 50-100 institutional and individual donors and prospects, directly cultivating roughly half.
  • Conduct prospect research and qualification for institutional and high-net-worth individual prospects.
  • Coordinate the development of proposals, reports, and written materials in partnership with program leads.
  • Lead the organization's funder CRM by consolidating records into Salesforce and maintaining data management systems.
  • Advise senior leadership on fundraising priorities and donor outreach strategies.
  • Draft proposal budgets and manage financial reports to ensure compliance across the grant lifecycle.
