Requirements
- 8+ years of professional engineering experience delivering products, features, or systems with meaningful downstream business and product impact.
- Experience building or operating stateful services, with a strong understanding of system architecture and engineering tradeoffs.
- 2+ years of experience managing and developing engineers, including hiring, mentoring, providing feedback, and managing performance.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to engage deeply in architecture, system design, distributed systems, and complex engineering decisions.
- Product-oriented mindset and demonstrated ability to translate customer needs and business objectives into practical engineering roadmaps and shipped products.
- Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution, enabling teams to move quickly without compromising reliability or quality.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills across engineering, product, design, and other functions.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for both immediate team outcomes and the long-term health of technical systems.
- Experience with developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, DevTools, highly scalable distributed systems, or products built for technical users is a plus.
- Experience improving engineering velocity through tooling, processes, or team practices is also valued.
- A track record of collaborating effectively with product, marketing, customer support, or other go-to-market teams to support product adoption and retention is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Postgres engineers through regular feedback, technical guidance, career development, and effective performance management.
- Drive major product initiatives from initial ideation through delivery, balancing execution speed with reliability, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Partner with Product, Design, Infrastructure, customers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs, establish priorities, and shape technical roadmaps.
- Provide strong technical leadership in system design, architecture, and engineering decisions, helping the team evaluate complex tradeoffs.
- Break down complex technical challenges into incremental milestones that deliver customer value while supporting continued platform evolution.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering practices and team processes.
- Ensure engineers maintain a strong understanding of the developer experience and the broader customer and business impact of their work.
- Help improve team velocity, engineering processes, and ways of working while maintaining strong standards for system health and operational excellence.
