Requirements
- 5+ years of recent experience in surgical cardiology profee EM coding.
- Active status certification (CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT) via AAPC or AHIMA.
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts between 4am-7pm (Mon-Fri).
- High school diploma, GED, or Associate's degree in a healthcare field.
- Elevated knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail for identifying complex coding issues.
Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records to accurately code diagnostic and procedural information per national guidelines.
- Consult with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate documentation.
- Abstract clinical data into electronic medical records.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from CMS, OIG, and state Medicaid plans.
- Identify validation edits and revision issues to ensure accurate reimbursement.
- Provide mentorship to less experienced staff and act as a subject matter expert.
- Lead coding round table discussions and assist in onboarding new staff.
