Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Proven experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and documenting complex business processes and workflows.
  • Experience developing business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience facilitating requirements discussions with business users, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience analyzing current-state and future-state processes, identifying gaps, and translating business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Experience supporting testing and validation of business requirements and workflows.
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices, including backlog refinement and iterative development processes.
  • Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience working within the Michigan trial court system (circuit court experience strongly preferred).
  • Ability to travel onsite to Michigan court locations periodically (up to two times per month).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Michigan courts, JIS staff, and other stakeholders to understand current court processes, business needs, challenges and requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements elicitation through interviews, meetings, site visits, document analysis, and workflow observation.
  • Translate business needs and complex court processes into clear, actionable business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain process maps, workflow diagrams, business requirements documentation, and other supporting project documentation.
  • Analyze current-state and future-state workflows and identify gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison between court stakeholders, JIS staff, and project team members to ensure requirements and business needs are clearly understood.
  • Support implementation activities, including requirements clarification, testing, validation, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in periodic onsite visits to Michigan courts to observe operations, gather requirements, and validate workflows and business processes.
