Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Android systems engineering, embedded Linux, or firmware engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Android BSPs, Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and vendor Android builds.
- Experience with MediaTek (MTK) platforms, including early boot components and kernel configuration.
- Experience developing Android applications or device-side tools in Kotlin or Java.
- Knowledge of Android secure boot, Verified Boot, signing processes, and OTA update mechanisms.
- Proficiency in diagnosing hardware/software compatibility, including memory and component substitutions.
- Ability to debug using UART logs, adb, fastboot, and kernel crash logs.
- Experience writing clear technical documentation for diverse audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers or ODMs is a plus.
- Experience with MDM, kiosk mode, or offline-first educational applications is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design maintainable Android device software architectures supporting multiple hardware variants.
- Collaborate with SoC vendors, contract manufacturers, and internal teams on device requirements and hardware/software compatibility.
- Develop and maintain bootloaders, kernel configurations, device trees, and Android system images.
- Contribute to Android application development, focusing on diagnostics, kiosk mode, and offline operation.
- Define production flashing, provisioning, and OTA update processes for large-scale deployments.
- Monitor device performance, diagnose low-level issues, and implement system-wide fixes.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation for platform architecture, build processes, and validation.
