Requirements
- Advanced scientific or clinical degree (PharmD, PhD, OD, MD, NP, or PA) preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry.
- Meaningful field medical affairs or MSL leadership experience.
- Experience in ophthalmology, retina, glaucoma, or ocular hypertension strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting Phase 3 clinical programs, investigator-sponsored research, or clinical trial sites preferred.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and FDA regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and key opinion leaders.
- Excellent scientific communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to interpret complex scientific information for audiences with varying technical expertise.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills for a matrixed environment.
- Ability to travel extensively (approximately 50–75% domestic travel).
Responsibilities
- Lead regional medical affairs activities supporting Phase 3 clinical trial execution, investigator engagement, protocol education, and clinical site support.
- Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with investigators, key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, academic institutions, and strategic ophthalmology accounts.
- Support clinical trial sites through trial awareness, protocol education, patient identification strategies, and ongoing scientific guidance.
- Establish and execute quarterly engagement objectives across priority accounts, healthcare systems, and strategic customer groups.
- Help establish a scalable field medical organization, contributing to organizational design, team expansion, and leadership of additional MSL professionals.
- Represent the organization at scientific congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other medical events.
- Facilitate compliant scientific exchange with healthcare professionals regarding clinical data, disease-state education, and pipeline development.
- Gather field insights, competitive intelligence, and unmet medical needs, communicating actionable findings to internal stakeholders.
