Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of progressive engineering management experience, including managing managers.
- Extensive experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Strong background in Golang and/or Python backend services, API design (gRPC, REST), and asynchronous messaging.
- Deep expertise across the software development lifecycle from inception to continuous delivery.
- Proven ability to design and operate distributed systems and microservices architectures at scale.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
- Strong advocate for agentic engineering and AI-augmented development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical vision for core engineering teams in alignment with business strategy.
- Provide architectural guidance for configuration layers, enrollment workflows, and event-sourced domain services.
- Manage delivery commitments and UAT handoff dates for enterprise carrier partners.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Engineering Managers and 20-30 engineers across multiple squads.
- Direct the adoption of AI-augmented development practices, tooling, and AI-first delivery across the organization.
- Represent Bestow in technical due diligence and negotiations with partners and vendors.
- Own the organization's incident posture, driving root-cause analysis and systemic improvements.
