Requirements
- 5+ years of professional UX and UI design experience.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design sensibility and systems thinking.
- Experience launching and maintaining digital products within a team.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, prototyping).
- Experience working in agile environments with iterative feedback cycles.
- Strong communication skills for presenting design rationale to non-designer audiences.
- Experience designing for public services or benefit systems.
- Experience on government or civic tech projects is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with VPAT documentation or Section 508 compliance is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own UX and UI designs from concept to handoff, including wireframes, flows, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Build and maintain components within an evolving design system.
- Translate complex case management, eligibility, and intake workflows into clear, accessible, and usable interfaces.
- Collaborate directly with engineers to ensure accurate implementation and adjust designs based on technical constraints.
- Support accessibility reviews and contribute to WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies, design reviews, and stakeholder demos.
