Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience demonstrating independent delivery and increasing ownership.
- Backend development experience using Java or Groovy, including writing and maintaining production services.
- Experience building web applications with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with databases (MongoDB or similar NoSQL stores preferred), including schema design and query writing.
- Demonstrated ability to independently own story-sized work, from task decomposition to shipping.
- Familiarity with event-driven systems or messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
- Proficiency with version control (Git), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to produce accurate effort estimates and communicate status, risks, and blockers proactively.
- Strong code review skills with ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
- Own story-level work independently by decomposing stories into tasks and implementing across the full stack.
- Design and ship features with strong quality discipline including writing tests and accurate estimates.
- Write design notes for non-trivial work, articulating tradeoffs before implementation.
- Debug and resolve production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Identify and ship platform or process enhancements to improve developer experience and operational reliability.
- Provide high-signal code reviews to catch issues and suggest improvements.
- Support onboarding and mentor interns or new hires on well-scoped tasks.
- Coordinate across dependencies with PM, QA, and adjacent engineers to resolve blockers.
