Requirements
- Experience managing a security or engineering team, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Technical fluency in security posture management and software supply chain security.
- Experience securing large-scale SaaS environments.
- Track record of driving broad, governed rollouts of security capabilities across an organization.
- Ability to translate security requirements into controls that minimize friction for engineering teams.
- Experience with compliance, audit, certification, or security maturity assessments.
- Ability to drive measurable impact under high ambiguity.
- Strong written communication skills suited for an all-remote, asynchronous work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive, governed rollouts of GitLab's own security capabilities across the estate.
- Set a security baseline that provides secure defaults and paved paths for engineering teams.
- Serve as Customer Zero to provide feedback to Product and Engineering on feature adoption at scale.
- Establish proactive software supply chain security, including third party component governance and SBOM requirements.
- Reduce systemic risk across groups and namespaces, addressing token governance and lateral movement.
- Own the operations of the Product Security Risk Register and department-wide metrics dashboards.
- Partner with Compliance to produce audit evidence and support security maturity assessments.
- Represent security initiatives externally to strengthen go-to-market narratives.
- Lead, coach, and grow the security engineering team.
