Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in community engagement, data centres, utilities, energy, or large-scale industrial infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience in community or public affairs, government relations, or economic development.
- Direct experience working with municipal governments, councils, and provincial stakeholders on large projects.
- Understanding of local government processes, community dynamics, and political considerations.
- Familiarity with municipal and provincial land-use, zoning, development, and permitting processes.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical info into accessible language.
- Comfort representing the organization publicly at town halls, hearings, and media interactions.
- Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent engagements.
- Based in Alberta, Canada, or willing to relocate there.
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally up to 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipal governments, provincial agencies, and community organizations.
- Develop and execute engagement strategies across the infrastructure lifecycle from site selection to operations.
- Build external coalitions and facilitate education sessions for local stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at town halls, public hearings, and community events.
- Monitor community sentiment and advise internal teams on risks and engagement opportunities.
- Partner with real estate and infrastructure teams to incorporate feedback into project planning.
- Coordinate charitable giving, corporate social responsibility, and economic development commitments.
- Manage energy and sustainability communications regarding land use and infrastructure impacts.
- Develop repeatable engagement processes and playbooks for future portfolio growth.
