Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or government relations within student transportation, transit, or a closely related public-sector-facing industry.
  • Established, active relationships with Superintendents, Transportation Directors, and/or state transportation or education officials.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder public-sector sales cycles and competitive government RFP processes.
  • Proven consultative selling capabilities with experience positioning technology-enabled mobility solutions.
  • Deep understanding of public-sector procurement processes, budget cycles, RFP timelines, funding environments, and stakeholder decision-making.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • High degree of personal integrity, sound judgment, and discretion when representing an organization to public officials.
  • Ability to navigate procurement ethics requirements and compliance considerations.
  • Comfortable representing the organization in person through frequent travel for conferences, district meetings, and professional engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new-business growth across an assigned state or regional territory by developing and executing strategic account and government-relations plans.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with Superintendents, district Transportation Directors, business and finance leaders, and state transportation or education officials.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, association events, district visits, dinners, site visits, and other industry or relationship-building engagements.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities by monitoring district budget cycles, contract expirations, RFP calendars, funding changes, and evolving state policies.
  • Develop and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified public-sector opportunities, prioritizing accounts with strong potential for growth and long-term partnerships.
  • Lead and support competitive government RFP processes, coordinating internal contributors and coaching teams through written proposals, presentations, and oral interviews.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to named accounts throughout the customer lifecycle, supporting a smooth transition to operations after contract award and helping protect relationships through renewal.
