Requirements

  • 3–10 years of combined experience in patent-domain work and B2B SaaS product management.
  • USPTO-registered patent agent status or a JD with substantial patent prosecution or litigation experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with claim charts, invalidity contentions, or freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Strong knowledge of patent concepts including claim construction, prior art, and prosecution history.
  • Familiarity with patent analytics platforms such as Patlytics, Derwent Innovation, or Google Patents Advanced.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping AI-powered products for enterprise legal or high-accuracy professional environments.
  • Strong understanding of LLM architecture including prompt engineering, structured outputs, and tool/function calling.
  • Hands-on knowledge of multi-step agent architectures using frameworks like LangGraph.
  • Experience with LLM evaluation methodologies and tools such as LangSmith or Braintrust.
  • Ability to write precise product and LLM workflow specifications for engineering teams.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills for demonstrating products and handling complex legal questions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and quarterly objectives for an AI-powered patent intelligence platform.
  • Identify underserved customer segments and develop product opportunities for law firms and corporate IP teams.
  • Define API-first and integration strategies across technical teams.
  • Design LLM workflows including system prompts, tool definitions, and multi-step agent architectures.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks and gold-standard datasets to benchmark and mitigate AI hallucinations.
  • Act as the final quality gate for AI-generated patent intelligence to ensure legal accuracy standards.
  • Investigate and escalate legal accuracy risks such as fabricated citations or incorrect claim interpretations.
  • Work directly with clients and legal professionals to gather feedback and translate needs into technical requirements.
