Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with clear senior-level ownership of production systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating Kafka-based eventing architectures.
  • Deep MongoDB experience at scale, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling systems at a high-growth or high-traffic company.
  • Strong API design fundamentals and disciplined approach to testing, code quality, and documentation.
  • Background in healthcare or health tech (EHR integrations, FHIR, HL7, HIPAA, PHI) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience at a high-scaling technology company where reliability and throughput were mission-critical.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Exposure to Redis or other caching and search layers, LLM or AI product pipelines, and early-stage startup experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs in Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Architect and extend event-driven systems on Kafka, managing stream processing and delivery guarantees.
  • Manage MongoDB data modeling, schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Develop secure integrations with EHR systems, FHIR, and HL7 standards.
  • Support AI agent workflows with resilient backend services and real-time data pipelines.
  • Maintain high reliability through monitoring, load testing, and incident response.
  • Ensure HIPAA-grade security practices when handling sensitive PHI data.
