Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree or specialization in Accounting preferred.
- At least 3 years of relevant tax experience, ideally in Big Four or multinational publicly traded companies.
- Working knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax laws.
- Proficiency in ASC 740 and applicable tax accounting guidance, including FIN 18 and FIN 48.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, tax accounting, and financial reporting processes.
- Strong project management capabilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax research tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- CPA license or successful completion of CPA examination is preferred.
- Experience with OneSource, Alteryx, Hyperion, SAP, or Power BI is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Manage external tax resources responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing state income and franchise tax returns.
- Oversee state tax controversy matters, governmental notices, and audits.
- Review quarterly and annual tax accounting calculations under ASC 740.
- Prepare and analyze FIN 48 tax contingency accruals and financial statement disclosures.
- Prepare and review tax accounting workpapers and analyze permanent and temporary differences.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to support accurate tax reporting.
- Monitor state tax legislation changes to ensure compliance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Lead state tax loan staff and manage internal and external resources.
- Analyze state income and franchise tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Support special tax initiatives while managing competing priorities.
