Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience.
- 4+ years leading engineering teams, including experience owning outcomes across multiple concurrent domains.
- Experience managing blended teams of full-time and contract, onshore and offshore engineers.
- Hands-on experience building and operating Android software, including custom ROMs and MDM.
- Understanding of IoT device communication protocols such as AWS IoT Core and BLE/GATT.
- Experience with front-end frameworks (JavaScript or TypeScript) and backend services.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
- Ability to evaluate architecture and code from staff-level engineers.
- Understanding of device constraints: memory, storage, processing power, and connectivity.
Responsibilities
- Own engineering outcomes across device product areas including field operations, exam-room technology, and back-office systems.
- Serve as Engineering Manager for a team of leads and individual contributors, overseeing hiring, performance, and career growth.
- Lead code reviews, contribute directly to code, and guide teams on technical best practices.
- Champion AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices in team workflows and product capabilities.
- Coordinate priorities and dependencies across multiple active product areas.
- Represent device product areas in cross-org architecture reviews and trade-off decisions.
- Partner with Product and Design leadership on planning and organizational design.
