Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience using Elixir and/or Ruby, with strong professional Elixir experience required.
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including API design, data modeling, SQL, debugging, and service reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable and dependable backend systems that integrate with multiple services and products.
- Solid experience with relational and/or non-relational databases.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for logic errors, security, and maintainability.
- Demonstrated daily or regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
- Strong system design skills, including the ability to reason about scalability, failure modes, and architectural decisions.
- Experience with software quality practices such as peer code reviews, unit testing, continuous integration, and Test-Driven Development.
- Experience participating in an on-call rotation and willingness to assist with production issues outside regular working hours.
- Strong ownership and self-motivation with the ability to move projects forward independently.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable backend systems using Elixir, focusing on API design, data modeling, SQL, and service reliability.
- Take ownership of critical product areas and drive initiatives from technical conception through implementation, deployment, and ongoing operation.
- Develop backend services that integrate effectively with multiple products and systems while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and maintainability.
- Solve complex technical problems involving booking flows, payments, customer workflows, and large-scale distributed applications.
- Apply AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent technologies as an integral part of the software development workflow.
- Design and operate sophisticated agent orchestration systems and establish effective patterns for collaboration between human engineers and AI agents.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide support for occasional production incidents outside standard working hours.
