Requirements
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
- Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or developer-facing tooling.
- Experience with command and flag design, terminal user interfaces, and backward compatibility.
- Experience owning technical problems end-to-end and making architectural trade-offs.
- Experience guiding engineers through code reviews and mentorship.
- Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
- Comfort working in a fully remote, largely asynchronous environment.
- Alignment with GitLab's values.
- Experience with IDE extension development (e.g., JetBrains/Kotlin, VS Code) is a plus.
- Understanding of Language Server Protocol (LSP) is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition through implementation, rollout, and iteration.
- Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript with careful command and flag design, clear output, and backward compatibility.
- Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI to support growth.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams across the AI Clients stage to align technical decisions.
- Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through code reviews and mentorship.
- Contribute to IDE extension development, such as JetBrains plugins in Kotlin or VS Code extensions, when required for shared features.
